Get to know about Gregory Carreño
Clarinetist, pedagogue, orchestra and choir’s conductor. Gregory Carreño belongs to one of the most important musical families in Venezuela, graduated from the Venezuelan music school and conservatory, he obtained the titles of Clarinet Performing Professor and Music Professor with honorable mentions. He studied composition, orchestral conducting and analysis of form with the Masters José Antonio Abreu and Juan Bautista Carreño.
Carreño went to the School of Music of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma of Mexico UNAM Choral and Orchestral Direction, under the guidance of the Maestro Enrique Ribó. He also graduated from the Latin American Academy for Orchestra Directors of the Inter-American Center for Musical Studies (CIDEM).
Carreño belongs to the generation called by Maestro José Antonio Abreu in 1975 to found the National Youth Orchestra of Venezuela and it is from there that the development of an intense musical activity of artistic consolidation and training begins, becoming a national benchmark, consolidating, founding and strengthening the Orchestral and Choral movement in Venezuela.
